How does winter affect my game?
A: If one could check the weather forecast for the day it would help to know the direction in which the wind is coming from and how strong it will be.
If the wind is a factor, make it your ally when playing. If the wind is at your back you may not need to hit the ball as hard. Adjust your power and technique to keep the ball in play. However if you are facing the wind, a stronger stance, complete back swing and follow through will be required.
Q:: What is the correct way to warm up for tennis?
A: Some people want to come out and hit the ball at 1,000 miles per hour from the start. You don't need to do that.
I'd recommend that you start playing in the short court (inside the service box).
Concentrate more on watching the ball coming off the strings, than on power. Make sure you've got the right form and the right technique before you start hitting it hard.
Set yourself little targets. Try and keep the ball in the service court for eight consecutive shots. Once you've accomplished your goal, set a new one.
Use the practice to get your eye in and your technique down.
