FRIDAY, NOV. 2: This weekend is the Baltimore Blast’s first game of the season against Chicago Soul at home on Saturday at 7:35pm.
This will be a good test for us as we will start the season with some new changes in the lineup.
Perhaps the biggest change this year will be in goal with our starting long-time keeper Sagu having retired.
The Blast will have a chance to develop two new keepers this season.
They will have the challenge of a lifetime especially coming into this fresh and without any experience of the indoor game.
I am pretty sure you could tell which one of the two people dressed up for Hallowe’en is me.
I am also sure you may assume that I will be chatting about my Hallowe’en outing, but I want to take this topic deeper and talk about how having confidence in ourselves plays a big part on our character and self esteem.
No matter what we do or how we look or dress for a specific moment we need to have the confidence to proceed on to success. It took me a few hours between picking out this costume and putting it on, but all during that time period I was only thinking of how silly I am going to look in it.
Then it hit me, if this one day I am dressing up to transform myself to something which would give people a chuckle than the rest of the days with it off would not be that bad. So it was okay to be silly with it for the night.
Sometimes people walk around feeling they are not special or feel they have no value in the world.
Some feel that they are not up to someone else’s standards and try to transform, not for themselves, but for others and end up totally out of character and become more stressed out because of it.
I am here to tell you it is okay to be yourself.
The only person you need to change for is yourself.
Do not feel that if you do not keep up with others you will not get ahead or fail. Your main responsibility is to reach your own goals and fulfil your own needs. Take care of your emotions and self-esteem first and leave all the dressing up and transformation for that one day on Hallowe’en.
As soon as I transformed into my pirate outfit I actually thought I was one by the end of the night.
I took on the character to the fullest because I know that this is the one day I have planned to look silly and step away from who I really am. Yes, I enjoyed every minute of it. I had no worries of what people thought and realize that there is a greater me underneath the costume.
I just have to remember to wait until next Hallowe’en before I plan to look silly again in front of others.
Confidence in who we are and what we do comes from trusting in the journey we planned for ourselves and sticking by our own road map to get us there. Never allow others to force you to transform into something you are not.
Be ahead of the game by empowering yourself every chance you get.
You will only find confidence only when you find yourself.
Let’s leave the dressing up and looking silly for Hallowe’en!
Until next time!
