WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 12: Furniture Flair is still open despite rumours the houseware shop had closed last year.
In fact the store has moved to a new location on Bakery Lane with a bigger showroom.
Owner Jeff Seiler said the business is doing quite well and wants to quash rumours that it had closed.
He took over the business last December and although there have been three redundancies, Furniture Flair is doing well in the recession.
“We did have three redundancies but the business is open.
“They were in the warehouse, sales and accounting.
“We now have seven members of staff.”
Mr Seiler continued: “There were rumours that we closed.
“We did move to a new location and we now have a bigger showroom.
“I’ve spoken to people who have said they were in the gym and were told Furniture Flair was closed.”
Mr Seiler said the new showroom is bigger which allows the products to be shown better.
“Most of our product is flooring”, he said.
“We do carpet and vinyl and we also do Hunter Douglas window treatments, blinds and all kinds of stuff like that.
“We have the biggest Hunter Douglas showroom display in Bermuda.”
In addition, Furniture Flair also sells commercial office furniture.
Asked how the business has been since he took it over, Mr Seiler said: “It’s tough like everywhere else.
“People don’t have the open pocket books like they used to.
“People are holding back on remodeling their homes.
“But we’re doing very well and holding our own.
“We’re not even close to closing the business.”
Furniture Flair is located on Bakery Lane and the number is 292-7272.
