First match provides useful lesson for Under-16s
The early exchanges were competitive, with Ashton Dean and Kamel Easton putting in some notable tackles on what was a scorcher of a day.
Cayman's early pressure soon told as their well drilled backs found space out wide to score in the corner. Further scores were to follow in the first half, with Cayman finishing the half 17-0 up.
Further scores followed in the second half, as Cayman showed their experience as a team and took hold of the match.
However, the biggest cheer of the game was saved for Bermuda when Ashton Dean picked up from the back of the scrum to outsprint the backrow defence, side step the winger, and touch down in the corner. To give the visiting crowd more to cheer about, Kamel Easton was successful with the conversion from out wide out to give Bermuda a well deserved score and show the opposition what the visitors were capable of.
In the end, the experience of the Cayman side told as they ran out eventual 48-7 winners.
However, given that this was Bermuda's first ever game at this age group, the Bermuda coaches were extremely pleased with how well the team had performed and predicted that the next encounter between the two sides will be much closer.[[In-content Ad]]
