THURSDAY, NOV. 3: A former chairman of the OBA and a businesswoman are set to become the party’s new senators, the Bermuda Sun can reveal.
Michael Fahy, a lawyer who works in international business, and Toni Daniels, who owns a health food shop in Hamilton, will both take seats in the Upper House.
The two are the first appointments by Opposition Leader Craig Cannonier, who was sworn in by Governor Sir Richard Gozney today.
A party insider said: “These are key appointments and reflect what the OBA is all about. They’re young, keen and reflect modern Bermuda.
“The OBA is about the future, not the past, and these appointments signal that very clearly.”
The two replace Mr Cannonier, who became an MP when he won the Devonshire South Central by-election earlier this week and Sen. Kathy Michelmore, who will be moving to Australia with her Australian husband and two young children later this year.
Mr Fahy served as a Senator for the former UBP and was interim chairman of the new OBA, formed out of the bulk of the UBP and its former splinter group the Bermuda Democratic Alliance earlier this year.
