Experts agree Morales didn't do enough to beat Perozzi

Controversy? What Controversy? We asked some of the top names in boxing, who were at Saturday's fight, whether they thought the close points decision in favour of Perozzi, was fair.

What the experts said:

Yahya McClain

Yahya McClain, boss of Absoloot Entertainment, one of the world's biggest female boxing promoters and former husband of Leila Ali.

"I thought Teresa clearly won the fight. It was entertaining, at times. She was in control the majority of the time. She hit the girl with cleaner, harder shots.

"The other girl was busy and had her jab working well but Teresa connected with the more powerful and harder punches.

"She (Teresa) is definitely improving. She looks like a real fighter - she trains hard and she's doing well. I'd definitely be interested in promoting her in the future.

No matter how good you do there's always people that are going to have something negative to say, you've just got to get on with it and move forward.

Troy Darrell

Bermuda Hall-of-Fame Boxer

"I was watching as a spectator and not really scoring. I thought Teresa did pretty good, she's definitely improved.

"It was a good close fight and if it had been in the other girl's home town, then she might have won, but she didn't really do enough to win it.

"To come away and fight a champion you've really got to beat them up to take the belt and she didn't do that. She didn't impose her presence on the fight.

Clarence Hill, Hall-of-Fame boxer and Olympic medalist

"I was okay with the decision. I think they gave it to the right fighter.

"I thought Teresa fought a very strong fight and the American girl also fought a good fight. They were so evenly matched that I figured it would be really close and it came down to a point difference. When it's that close, I figured it would go to Teresa - being the title-holder - That's the way of the world. To be a champion you've got to come and beat the person with the belt. You've got to make sure there is no doubt and she didn't do that.

"She probably had better jabbing and movement but Teresa stayed with her and landed the heavier blows. There was only a point difference and they had to give it back to the champion."[[In-content Ad]]
