Dry spell set to continue for another week
FRIDAY, JULY 8: A ridge of high pressure sitting over Bermuda is keeping the rain away, weather experts said today.
And the water-starved island will not see much rain before next weekend, when there is a chance of heavier rainfall as a cold front approaches.
A spokeswoman for the Bermuda Weather Service said: “The amount of precipitation depends on how well the next cold front holds together when it encounters the Bermuda-Azores High.
“This extended dry spell has indeed been very extended now. The few fronts and troughs which have approached the area have not been strong enough to weaken the ridge and have dissipated near Bermuda.”
The Weather Service predicts there may be “one or two showers and a slight chance of thunder” between Sunday night and Tuesday.
The spokeswoman added: “Wednesday into Thursday a few more showers are expected as remnants of the cold front move into the area.”
