'Do you really think tourists will come to see concrete?'

Dear Sir,

I am distraught. I feel like shouting from the rooftops that this Government is going to ruin all of our pristine land for stupid developments, which are not necessary.

The Southland's development has left me broken hearted.

I have visited these beautiful, untouched lands and think that we should have a new law, which prohibits anyone from destroying land, which should remain untouched.

The PLP Government seems to do what they like. Remember they work for us, people, and we pay them.

They must not be allowed to ruin our country just to gain a few hotel beds when we all know that other land could be used.

Why not build where there are already broken-down places.

Oh well, we all know why. It's because these guys come with the big bucks, and the Premier is delighted. Oh sure, he's not going to be around forever, he's going to leave this mess of concrete for future generations to deal with. I find this attitude apprehensible.

How many times are we going to have to go through this? The National Trust is set up to protect our open spaces - do they have enough teeth? Why was Stuart Hayward fired?

I thought we had a new law; set up by Minister Horton, that no-one could sell property to anyone who is not Bermudian?

The PLP Government set up Sustainable Development and then they renege on their promises. I just don't get it. It's like living in a communist country.

The Government says and does what it feels and to hell with anyone who will stand against them.

Silenced

That's why Stuart Hayward was fired. No other reason. He's shooting off his mouth too much. One would never believe we are supposed to have freedom of speech.

But that doesn't work in Bermuda because you do so at your peril.

I couldn't really care less, this is more important to me than money. We will never be able to replace this land once it's gone.

Do we really think tourists will come here to see concrete? They have that at home, they don't want to come to our beautiful shores to find the same.

Bermuda will not be what we envision for our children and grandchildren if we allow this to continually happen.

I'm certain when the UBP regains power we will see a difference.

The UBP truly cares about its people and our property.

The PLP Government only cares about prestige, power, the almighty dollar and they surely cannot be trusted to protect our land. Let's all think before we cast our vote for this callous and dictatorial party.
