The Devonshire Dragons player was having a shoot around at half time of the 2010 Sky Streetball Bermuda Gas All-star weekend when he heard the surprise announcement.
"I was speechless - speechless," Dill said. "I was shocked. I wasn't expecting to be selected."
He had talked with SKY Streetball organizer Lee Greene ahead of time, but Greene played it cool and let Dill believe someone else was getting the chance to go pro.
He said prior to he had checked out the Stampede online.
"I could see they needed some help."

Dill, who went to Texas A & M University for two years, but didn't play for team after an injury sidelined him, said there's a bit of disagreement as to how tall he really is.
"In Texas I'm 6 ft 8 in, but here I'm 6 ft 6 in so I say I'm 6 ft 7 in."
Dill had taken a semester off of school to earn some money was adamant he's not finished with college.
"I want to finish my education." He said he might have to go part-time to complete his degree in education, but he is going to do it.
He is a late bloomer to basketball. A former track and cross country star, he only took up the sport when he was 16.
"My best friend played basketball. I tried it and found I had natural athletic ability."
Dill then helped CedarBridge Academy go undefeated in the 2005 season.[[In-content Ad]]
