Decision day for O’Brien, Outerbridge
O’Brien, who took 11 wickets for St George's in the summer spectacle, was seen to take a swing at Somerset batsman Outerbridge, who allegedly spat in his face after being dismissed.
The pair have since appeared on television to apologise for the incident.
The Bermuda Cricket Board has not yet taken any action over the fracas because it was awaiting the clubs’ reports.
But chairman Reginald Pearman said yesterday that the reports had now been received and would be discussed at Wednesday's meeting.
He confirmed that Cup Match was under the jurisdiction of the two clubs but said the BCB did have the power to increase whatever penalties were meted out if they were deemed insufficient.
“We have got the final reports now and it should be resolved within the next week,” he added.
Neil Paynter, president of St George's Cricket Club, refused to comment on what action, if any, the club had taken.
“It's an internal matter. We are dealing with it at club level,” he said.
He would not elaborate on that statement or offer details of how the disciplinary procedure worked.
Somerset Cricket Club President Anthony Bailey was unavailable for comment yesterday.[[In-content Ad]]
