Cricket foes named for Intercontinental Cup
The regional qualifying competitions have been ditched and the matches will switch from three to four days.
The top eight teams, outside of the Test playing nations, have been split into two groups of four.
Ireland, Scotland, United Arab Emirates and either Namibia or Nepal will contest the other group.
The teams will play-off in a round robin format and the winners will compete in the final.
No schedule has been announced for the new-look tournament but it is understood it will kick off in March.
Bermuda coach Gus Logie said the changes raised the level of the competition and would provide at least three big games for his team against other World Cup qualifiers.
He said the tournament was a benchmarking process for the World Cup but it was also a competition his team would be going all out to win. For more details on the new ICC Intercontinental Cup format and planned changes for the competition in 2007/2008 see www.bermudasun.bm.[[In-content Ad]]
