The Bermuda Cricket Board today said that former national squad player Charlie Marshall will not be a part of the team for the 2007 World Cup.

A press release said: "Further to recent media commentary regarding Mr. Charles Marshall the BCB can confirm that the Selection Committee has met and discussed Mr. Marshall's request for inclusion in the National squad. It was decided that the Committee is fully satisfied with the current National squad.

It added: "The Squad has been intensely training together for some time allowing the players to gain significantly in their fitness level, as well as developing their match tactics and a deeper team bond. It is felt, therefore, that at this late stage that it would not be necessary to include Mr. Marshall in the Squad. It was further noted that the continued focus on the youth is essential when considering the qualification for the 2009 ICC Trophy which will determine the Associate country qualifiers for the 2011 Cricket World Cup."

The release added: "The Selectors however noted that they continue to remain open to the introduction of new players if a situation is to arise in the future where this is deemed necessary."
