TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 22: Companies interested in the construction of the new hospital have been invited to meet the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.

Minister Kim Wilson is holding the meeting in partnership with BCM McAlpine Ltd. at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess on Monday. It starts at 10am.

Potential subcontractors and suppliers can find out how to register an interest in working on the project. They will also learn about the selection process.

Ms Wilson said: “The redevelopment of the hospital is a project that is of national interest and importance. The building of the facility will provide much-needed jobs in the lagging construction industry.

“This is an excellent opportunity for you to come out and register your interest.

“Our goal is to ensure that as many Bermudian companies as possible become involved with this project.

“Industry partners should attend the meeting and must express an interest if they are to be considered.”

Alan Burland, BCM McAlpine president, said the Paget Health Services team was pleased to be part of the Public-Private Partnership project and that BCM McAlpine has a responsibility to ensure as much of the project is undertaken by Bermudians as possible.

“We have received an unprecedented level of interest in the project and this meeting will allow those companies to understand the process that we will use to select our subcontractors and suppliers,” he said.

“We encourage as much of the local industry to attend the meeting as possible.”

The hospital project will include 90 single-occupancy ensuite patient rooms, Bermuda’s first dedicated day-surgery unit, ambulatory care services like oncology, dialysis, asthma and diabetes, diagnostic imageing services, a new emergency room, a utility plant and more.
