Columnists shouldn't fuel flames of these spurious allegations
I am compelled to write following my reading of your columnist Mr. Vesey's column in Friday's edition. I am so upset by the content of this article that I must respond.
Mr. Vesey states that Scotland Yard has been called in to investigate the 'leak' of these documents but not 'to investigate the wrongdoing'. Sir, this statement is incredible. These documents are several years old and come to public view as a result of some people who were upset about the outcome of...wait for it...an investigation into them.
To suggest otherwise is to add fuel to the fire of ignorance surrounding this whole affair. After years of investigations, $8m worth of costs to do so, nothing was found to bring charges or even cause some people to be interviewed by the police.
To Mr. Vesey and to all those people calling for more, like the Roman mobs of old, you disgust me.
I trust that you never suffer the indignity of having your name dragged through the mud because of an investigation into allegations against you.
I am horrified by the fact that everyone seems to have lost the point here.
It cannot be right for someone to stroll into the police station, make a complaint against someone, and then even after finding no evidence to proceed, that person has to read the baseless accusations made against them in the paper.
I don't care if it's Dr. Brown or the janitor - no-one deserves that.
Moreover, sir, your columnists should not feed such frenzy.
