FRIDAY, JAN. 13: Former Bermuda Regiment CO Lt Col David Burch officially launched his campaign yesterday for a seat in the House of Assembly.
Col. Burch – a former Senator and ex-Minister of National Security – was adopted as the PLP candidate for Warwick North Central, replacing sitting MP El James, who is to retire.
Col. Burch said: “I remain firmly of the view that the ideals, core values and vision of the Progressive Labour Party provide what is best for Bermuda.
“The Premier has assembled a team of diverse talent, strengths and backgrounds and I am committed to doing my part to work on behalf of our fellow citizens.”
Col. Burch – a graduate of the prestigious British Army officers’ training school The Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst – has held a number of Ministerial roles.
The self-employed management consultant has also served as deputy chairman of the Bermuda Housing Corporation and chairman of the West End Development Corporation.
A party spokesman said: “Colonel Burch has proven his commitment to his country of Bermuda. He has served his community well. He believes it is time to take his service to the next level and become an elected member of the House of Assembly.”
