CedarBridge announces new board members

TUESDAY, NOV. 9: Former Attorney General Larry Mussenden is the new chairman of CedarBridge Academy’s Board of Governors.

And former Government Senator Thaao Dill has been named deputy chairman.

New Minister of Education Jennifer Smith made the announcements through a press statement today.

The appointments come after former Education Minister El James fired CedarBridge board chairman George Scott and deputy chairman Lovitta Foggo in October.

At the time, Mr. James said he sacked Mr. Scott and Ms Foggo because he “wasn’t happy with the progress being made”.

He also said part of the reason Mr. Scott was fired was because he had served as chairman longer than time allowed.

The remaining executive members of the board then resigned in protest.

Also appointed to the board were Gregory Swan, Jane Correia, Carla Lambert, Roger Butterfield, Fanon Khaldun and Andrew Griffith.

Ms Smith said: “The combination of youth and experience which the CedarBridge board as a whole represents is further enhanced by the addition of six individuals who span a cross section of the community.

“Each one of the current board members have a deep passion for education and young people, additionally, each bring their own unique strengths and ideas to the table.

“All have told me that they are eagerly looking forward to rolling up their sleeves and doing the work that needs to be done on behalf of CedarBridge students.

“Indeed, there is much work to be done in our public education system, and their spirit of teamwork will be reflected throughout the system.”
