Cann named player of the year
Cann helped the Rangers win the Premier Division. he had an 87.83 average in 11 matches. As his reward, he received a cheque for $250, mobile phone and a plaque.
Daniel Morgan was named the First Division Player of the Year.
Money and trophies were handed out on the steps of City Hall yesterday as Cingular rewarded the champions of their Premier and First Division along with the Bermuda Cricket Board.
The agreement between the two organizations provides prize money for the top four cricket clubs . The winners of the Premier Division were as follows: 1. Southampton Rangers, $1,500, 2. St. David's $750, 3. Western Stars $500 and 4. Bailey's Bay $250.
The winners for the First Division are: 1. Somerset CC $1,500, 2. Warwick WC $750, 3. Devonshire Recreation Club $500 and 4. Willow Cuts $250.
Cingular Wireless General Manager Cheryl Packwood said, “We are very pleased with the results and performance in the second year of this sponsorship arrangement. The level of cricket played was outstanding and we encourage the clubs to continue to strive towards further improvements.
Cingular also recognized fourteen Top Scorers of the Week, seven from each division, who each received a brand new cell phone and a month of free service.”[[In-content Ad]]
