FRIDAY, JULY 27: Bermuda's ninth Olympian, Jenaya Wade-Fray is suiting up for the Great Britain Women’s basketball team.

The guard has been playing for GB for the past two years, having made her debut against Bulgaria.

The 5’9” Wade-Fray told the Bermuda Sun last month: “I never thought I’d be playing in the Olympics. I’m very excited about it and I can’t wait for the Games to start.”

She plays her league ball for UWIC Archers in Cardiff.

Wade-Fray comes off the bench for the British team as guard Jo Leedham has been the team’s star.

Great Britain, ranked #49, is a long shot medal hope. They play round robin games against #2 ranked Australia, #3 ranked Russia, #6 ranked Brazil, #8 ranked France and #11 ranked Canada.

But in the past two months the squad has beaten France, Canada and #4 ranked Czech Republic, so there is some hope that the team will surprise with the backing of the home crowd.

The team did receive a morale boost in its last tune up game when it played top ranked US close for most of its game against them. At one point, GB only trailed 54 to 47 before some lapses saw the Americans pull away to a 88 to 63 victory.
