Butterfield's fundraiser helps students in need
Butterfield employees held denim days to buy school supplies for students in need.
This is the second year in a row the bank held the fundraiser.
Pupils from 14 primary schools and four middle schools will receive stipulated amounts of backpacks full of necessary supplies such as stationery, notebooks, pencil-cases, hand sanitizer, lunch bags and key-rings.
This year the bank is also holding its presentation ceremony a month earlier to allow ample time prior to the start of the school year for students to receive their gifts.
Butterfield employees collected just over $7,000 during four employee denim days and this amount was matched by the bank.
M. Sean Lee, Butterfield’s executive vice president, head of Bermuda retail banking, said he was pleased Butterfield employees came forward to support this very worthy cause.
“As Bermuda’s own bank, it is important that Butterfield continues to give back to the community that has supported us for over 150 years,” Mr. Lee said.
“For the second year in a row, Butterfield is pleased to give school supplies to 300 students in need from the island’s primary and middle schools. We have exceeded our efforts from last year by 25%. On behalf of the Bank’s Executive, I’d like to thank our generous employees for organizing this important initiative.”
