BTC’s lines still faulty

Warriors League

Blackfoot picked up a critical win as they downed Commanche 3-1 in the Warriors League. Blackfoot now trail Commanche by three points as the season heads into the home stretch. All four Blackfoot bowlers - Dennis Butterfield, Kalvin Simmons, Jennifer Butterfield and Peter Trott - rolled scores between 584 and 621.

Mohican also kept their title hopes alive with a 3-1 triumph over Cherokee. Other scores saw Choctaw and Kickapoo run out 3-1 winners. Gilbert Trott rolled a 209 game to lead all bowlers and he also picked up an USBC award for a 200 game. Marjorie Armstrong had the highest game with a 213. Rodney Caines (669) and Renita Minors (654) won high handicap honours.

Standings: 1. Commanche 51-37; 2. Blackfoot 48-40; 3. Mohican 47-41; 4. Kickapoo 46-42; 5. Mohawk 44-44; 6. Choctaw 41-47; 7. Cherokee 39-49; 8. Navaho 36-52.

Commercial League

King Pins improbable run to the title continued with a 4-0 whitewash of Do It Best Masters. Under-strength former leaders BTC continues to struggle as they were scalped 3-1 by the Braves. Strikers and Royal Gazette remain tied in their battle to avoid last place. The Braves Doreen Smith rolled a 205 scratch game to lead the woman with Thalia Lightbourne (182) and Kristal Davis (177) also posting good scores.

Aesop Smith led the men with a 227, barely edging Chris Leverock's 224. BTC's Wayne Raynor also topped 200 with a 215.

Standings: 1. King Pins 58-34; 2. BTC 53-39; 3. Double Trouble 47-45; 4. Sunset 46-46; 5. Sweet Life 45-47; 6. Do It Best Masters 45-47; 7. Braves 43.5-48.5; 8. Spinners 42.5-49.5; 9. Royal Gazette 39.5-52.5; 10. Strikers 39.5-52.5.

Fishbowl League

The Marlins strengthened their grip on the league title with a 3-1 victory over the Porgies. The Marlins now have a 5.5 point lead over Snappers, who also won 3-1 with just six weeks left in the season.

Piranhas and Hinds both picked up maximum points with triumphs over Wahoo and Dolphins respectively.

Other scores saw Tuna flush Goldfish 3-1; Mackerel beat Barracuda 3-1 and Jellyfish and Cow Pollies draw.

Sandra Ford (201), Gladwin Harvey (246), Richard Zuill (244), Quinton Mallory (212) and Albert Botelho (219) all rolled 200s.
