BTC dials up win over Spinners

BTC maintained its three game lead over the King Pins as both sides won 3-1 in this week's Commercial Bowling League action at Warwick Lanes.

BTC topped Spinners 3-1 while King Pins enjoyed the Sweet Life 3-1.

Double Trouble had the best week with a 4-0 triumph over Sunset. Other scores saw Strikers beat the Royal Gazette 3-1 and Braves down Do It Best Masters 3-1.

Sharon DeShields (213) and Troy Darrell (214) had the two highest scratch games. Other top keglers included Christopher Smith (210), Henry Mabaylan (207), Thalia Lightbourne (183) and Marie Ford (181).

DeShields said the 213 was her highest score for the season.

Smith took the high handicap series honour with a 675. He was followed by Mabaylan (660) and Darrell (630) on the men's side while Ford (645) barely edged out DeShields (640) and Doreen Smith (636) on the ladies side.

Fishbowl League

Snappers were able to keep pace with Marlins as both clubs won 3-1 this week. Snappers used the team high handicap series of 2,453 to roll to their impressive victory.

Mackerel defeated Hinds 4-0 and Piranhas chewed up Orca 4-0 as both teams took advantage of the bottom two sides.

Other scores saw Cow Pollies, Barracuda and Jellyfish emerge three- one victors. Cow Pollies had the team high scratch game with a 750.

Carlos Estravit and Gladwin Harvey continued the form that has made them two of the top bowlers this season. Estravit rolled a 257 scratch game on his way to a 711 handicap series while Harvey rolled a natural 236 as he piled up 713 pins.

Richard Zuill (186) has the top average in the Fishbowl League, but Estravit (182) and Harvey (179) have been bowling consistently well.

Vernon Daniels (232 game), Henry Mabaylan (201 games, 646 handicap series), and Harry Krahn (679 handicap series) also had good nights.

Patrice Tucker bowled a 201 to lead all the women. Judy Aldred (651) took the high handicap series honours. Other top female bowlers included: Sandra Ford (196 game, 648 handicap series), Cathee Tumbridge (195 game), and Peggy Mello (622 game).

Tucker has the leading average for women with a 181 with Tumbridge (167) and Yvonne Joseph (165) next best.
