BIU agrees 'in principle' to new bus schedule

TUESDAY, MAY 29: Union members have agreed in principle to a new bus schedule, the Department of Public Transport said today.

The announcement by DPT director Dan Simmons came after a marathon three-hour meeting of workers with representatives of the Bermuda Industrial Union (BIU).

Bus services across the island were disrupted while the meeting took place.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Transport, which is responsible for bus services, said that they were awaiting formal notification of the outcome of the meeting.

Another meeting will be held between union representatives and the DPT to discuss specific details of the new work patterns for the proposed service schedule.
