Aussie prop Tony Daly, who scored the winning try against England in the 1991 World Cup final, will be one of the players to watch in a star studded Rugby Classic.

Continuing the long tradition of world class stars to play at the event, which starts next weekend at the National Sports Centre, Daly and Matt Cockbain, who has 66 caps for the Wallabies, will lead the Australian challenge.

Also at the Classic will be the controversial former South Africa captain Corne Krige, who will add a physical element to the Springboks defence of their title.

For the Classic Lions Tyrone Howe, who was capped 14 times by Ireland and is now an MP for the Ulster Unionist Party, will be one to watch.

Fellow Irish winger Richard Wallace was also highlighted by Classic organizer John Kane as one of the key men for the British contingent.

The French look to have a strong side this time around. There's plenty of experience in the squad with centre Emile Nítamack, winger Phillippe Bernat-Salles and lock Olivier Roumat boasting almost 150 full international caps between them.

Prop Steve McDowell, with 46 caps, is the most experienced player for the Classic All-Blacks while Scott Stewart and Ryan Banks are the men to watch for Canada. Willie John McBride, the former Ireland and British Lions hero, will be the guest speaker at the Classic Banquet.

The Classic starts with a party in Barrs Bay Park next Saturday, while the action on the field begins on the Sunday with New Zealand v Argentina and Lions v France.
