BF&M chills Arctic 25 to 5

It only took three turns of the bat for BF&M to defeat Arctic Airconditioning 25 to 5. John Blanchard (4-4) hit a first inning grand slam to help propel BF&M to a 13 to 2 lead. Blanchard had already singled in his first at bat in the inning, which was prolonged by three Arctic errors. Chris DeSouza (1-3) also homered in the inning for BF&M. John Burcher (4-4) and Mike Jones (3-3) were also perfect at the plate for the winners.

Sean Hill (2-3) scored two of Arctic's five runs while Nick Rowse (1-2) drove in two.

Tuesday's nightcap saw Montpelier Re outclass TPC 21 to 5 in another mercy-shortened contest.

An eight-run second inning followed by a seven-run third helped Montpelier Re pile on the runs. Chris Harris (1-3) smashed a three-run homer in the second to provide the big blow. Ryan Amlin (2-4) hit a two-run shot and tripled while Joe Barroso was 3-4 for Montpelier. Dave Allison was 2-2 but knocked in five runs.

Doug Woloshyn was 2-3 for TPC to lead their batting attack.

In a B Division game on Wednesday, Castlewood scored all the runs they needed with a seven-run first in defeating Renegades 12 to 3. Mike Abbott (1-2) provided the big hit in the inning with a grand slam, but Castlewood were helped by four errors.

Shannon Power (2-4) hit two homers, while his Castlewood team-mates Greg Carey, Danny Penton and Junior Lapointe were all 2-4.

Charles Trott pitched well for Renegades and was 3-3 with a double at the plate. Trott, Preston Mallory (1-2) and Tracey Bean (1-3) drove in the Renegades' runs.

The ACE Invaders evened their record with a come from behind 10-9 triumph over HSBC. ACE had the early lead when they plated four in the first thanks in part to a Joe Bellanca (3-4) homer.

The next two innings would belong to the bank as they scored seven times to take charge with Jason Pethick leading the way (3-4, HR). Second basewoman Joan Chang (3-4) was a sparkplug taking extra bases on the ACE fielders.

ACE trailed 9-7 going into the bottom of the seventh, but knotted the score on a Patrick Reardon (2-3) two-run homer. Bellanca then doubled, moved to third on an error and scored on an infield hit. Samuel Peters (2-3) also played well at the plate and Mark Megaw picked up the win by only giving up two runs in three innings.[[In-content Ad]]
