Right from the kickoff, Bermuda attacked Cayman, tackling ferociously and often jarring the ball loose in the process. Most of the action was confined to the centre of the field, leaving Bermuda's backs with very little space. After sustained pressure from Bermuda, James Collins opened the scoring with a forward's try, crashing over from close range. Tom Hill kicked the conversion.
The Bermuda forwards then took control of the game, and Cayman had no answer for their superior rucking and mauling. Two more tries, by Grenville Lines and Mikiel Thomas which were both converted by Tom Hill, followed before halftime.
At the start of the second half, Bermuda began to tire in the oppressive heat. Shortly after a long spell of hard tackling by Bermuda, several substitutions were made. At the next scrum the Cayman forwards won their own ball, but an error by their scrumhalf enabled Logan Ball to steal the ball and score a try with his first touch of the ball. Sam Brook added the conversion. A late crash-over try from William Collins, which was converted by Brook, sealed an emphatic victory 35-0.
The U-12 team maintained control of the game through solid rucking and mauling, which provided quality ball allowing their talented backs to exploit what space there was.[[In-content Ad]]
