Bermuda no longer 'biggest losers' in cricket

Bermuda's unwanted record for the heaviest defeat in one-day cricket history was consigned to the trash on Tuesday as Ireland took the title of 'biggest losers'.

The Irish were trounced by 290 runs against New Zealand, eclipsing Bermuda's 257-run defeat to India in the World Cup.

The Kiwis made 402 for 2 in their 50 overs with an opening stand of of 274 runs between Brendon McCullum (166) and James Marshall (161).

Then they skittled Ireland for 112 to gain a record win and rewrite the record book.

Bermuda's record for the most amount of runs conceded (413 in the same game against India) unfortunately still stands.[[In-content Ad]]
