Bermuda can improve on its tour results
There's a lot of work to do in a short period of time if we are going to turn things round before we travel to Kenya in November.
Anything is possible and I believe we can improve. The guys who were on this trip will have learned form the experience and the exposure but like coach has already said, there is going to have to be additions to the squad.
There is going to have to be some more talent come in. Some players were out of their depth at this level and I think they would admit that themselves.
That's not to say they can't turn things around and become competitive but they are just not ready at this time.
I'm hopeful that at least some of the guys who were not available for this tour will be able to come to Kenya. I'm pretty sure we'll see at least two or three faces that can come back to the team.
There are also talented players that are good enough to play for their country that have not been part of the programme before. Hopefully they will come out and train.
I think there are a couple of people out there who don't want to be part of the national programme because they are scared to fail. You have to take your hats off to the guys that did put themselves forward - even if they did not do well. At least they put themselves forward for their country and they will all be better players as a result.
There are a lot of reasons why guys are not playing for Bermuda but if they have any pride for their country and they've seen the results we've had then they'll do everything they can to make themselves available. If not, the guys that have made the sacrifices and the commitment to train will have to battle on.
The next tour
We have two four-day games coming up against Kenya and UAE and some one-day games against Denmark and Uganda.
I can't say it's going to be easier. There are no more easy games for Bermuda. I know some may prefer to play against Cayman and Argentina and compete but personally I want to be playing against the best.
We are taking our licks right now but we want to be against these teams to try and get our level up to where they are.
Kenya are the best of the associates and they are probably going to be even tougher than Ireland. The conditions might be a little easier. The ball won't be moving around as much but it's still going to be a very tough series.
UAE have rebuilt their cricket and got new players and Uganda are an improving side. We can't say that any of those matches will be an easy game for us. They might look at Bermuda and think they've got an easy game, but for us there is no such thing at this level.
St. David's
On the domestic front St. David's have slipped off the pace in the title race but we are not giving up yet.
We are still hoping to get the result reversed from our defeat against Social Club on the opening day of the season.
We filed a complaint because they fielded an ineligible player and we are still waiting to see if the board awards us the points.
Social Club are playing well at the moment but they still have to play Southampton Rangers and St. George.s, so we have an outside chance.
We're going to lose players with OJ and Delyone going to college, but we are still in with a chance.
After that, there's really nothing to play for.
I've said before that I can't understand why the domestic cups have all been scrapped.
A lot of teams who aren't challenging for the league have nothing to play for at the moment.
It's unfortunate that we don't have a Champion of Champions for the county cups. Rangers have been dominating the West, Social Club the Central and St. David's in the East. It would have been a great way to end the season.
Something like that has been missing at the end of the season for five or six years, Even if we had an all-star game it would provide a little something to keep guys interested right to the end.[[In-content Ad]]
