Bermuda beat Bahamas 13 to 10 (update 1)
Will play Cayman or Mexico next
Skipper Tom Healy said: "Bahamas are a very physical outfit and we knew that coming into the match. We were also wary of their speed out wide, which is where they eventually got their points through a Bermuda error.
"I'm proud of the boys as they got the win.
"It was ugly rugby but it was effective at the end of the day and delighted to get the win and move on to the next round of the tournament."
Bermuda led 10-7 at the half thanks to a Conor McGlynn try and the boot of Greg Fraser.
Bermuda dominated in the second half, could not find the try to salt the match away.
The home side threatened to score on several occasions but the finishing touch was missing.
Disaster struck with less than five minutes to go when the Bahamas picked off an errant pass and made quick work down the sideline, which end up leading to a penalty to knot the score at 10.
But the Bermuda lads kept their heads high. With less than two minutes in the match, Bermuda had their own penalty with Fraser's kick as sure death and taxes to give them enough for the 13 to 10 win.
