Beach closed, thunderstorms ahead
MONDAY, OCTOBER 3: Thunderstorms are likely tonight as Tropical Storm Philippe continues to be listed as a potential threat to Bermuda.
The news came as Hurricane Ophelia, which brought high winds and surf and rain over the weekend, moved away from the island.
The Lifeguard Service closed Horseshoe Beach from 1pm today because of high seas and dangerous rip currents, and the Bermuda Weather Service has warned thunderstorms are likely tonight.
Phillipe is expected to be 377 nautical miles to the southeast of Bermuda on Thursday morning.
The storm is 653 nautical miles south east of Bermuda at present and is moving west-southwest at 10 knots.
The weather for Tuesday is predicted to be cloudy with occasional showers and the risk of thunderstorms, which will ease later in the day.
Wednesday and Thursday should see a mix of sun and cloud, with the chance of showers, with the wind strengthening on Thursday.[[In-content Ad]]The Bermuda Sun bids farewell...
