FRIDAY, JULY 1: Hungry workers will be able to get some of Bermuda’s best barbecue starting this Friday at Young Men’s Social Club.
Antwan Albuoy, owner of Flamz BBQ & Grill, will be setting up shop in the club’s kitchen and selling his award-winning food every Friday.
Mr Albuoy won the ‘Low and Slow’ category at the Father’s Day BBQ Cook-Off on Court Street two weeks ago.
He is now hoping to cash in on his success.
The entrepreneur said he was taking things slow to start with and not offering a full menu, but he will have barbecue ribs, chicken and hot dogs.
His sides will include macaroni and cheese, peas and rice, macaroni salad, potato salad, coleslaw, corn and baked beans.
“I’ll be extending the menu within the coming weeks,” he said.
He added he hopes word of mouth will help the business grow.
“As weeks pass, more and more people will hear about it and it will get more popular.
“I’m expecting a decent turnout for Friday.”
Mr Albuoy will also be offering incentives to lure customers in.
This Friday HSBC employees who show their ID cards will get a 10 per cent discount.
The entrepreneur plans on rotating which company staff will receive a discount, as a way of attracting more patrons.
“The reason I chose HSBC to start with is I have a lot of friends there and they are Bermuda’s largest private employer, so I wanted someone who had a large number of staff,” he said.
Flamz BBQ & Grill, Fridays, 12-3pm, at Young Men’s Social Club, 32 Angle Street, Hamilton.
