The CellularOne Premier Basketball League will get underway at 7pm on Saturday night when the Hamilton Parish Chargers take on the Somerset Flyers.

It will be the first of five games at CedarBridge Academy for the revamped league.

Bermuda Basketball Association president Allen Walker Jr. is "elated" to have CellularOne as the title sponsor of this new league.

Walker said this will do "something extraordinary" for both players, members and those people looking for fun family entertainment.

The League will comprise of ten (10) teams that will play a total of nine games. All Saturday games will start at 7pm, 8pm and 9pm while Sunday games will commence at 3pm and 4pm.

League administrator Kenny Simmons believes that the time is right to introduce a new format.

"Our aim is to put basketball in the minds of people on the island. The CellularOne League will associate teams based on their respective parish to create community support and to grow our fan base."

Every week a Vitamin Water player of the week will be selected and spectators will have the opportunity to win weekly prizes, raffles, give aways, and participate in a $100.00 half court shot, while children under the age of 12 will be able to win a new bicycle.

Admission is free. For more information, contact the BBA voice mail at 291-3760 or visit or website at: www.bermudabasketball.org
