Asbestos found at Clearwater Middle School

FRIDAY, AUGUST 27: The Commissioner of Education would like to inform members of the Clearwater Middle School family that while recently preparing for the 2010/2011 academic year, asbestos has been discovered in the ceiling within an isolated area in the kitchen.

Remediation is currently underway to address this. Senior officials from the Department of Education will be making a site visit to Clearwater Middle School on Monday, August 30, 2010 and the results of air quality testing in the aforementioned area will be received shortly thereafter.

The purpose of this testing is to ensure that there are no airborne materials in the area.

Please be assured that the Department of Education is committed to ensuring that Clearwater Middle School is a healthy environment for all of its occupants.

At this point, school will be opening on 8 September and should there be any change, an announcement will be made accordingly.
