Appalled at language used in Parliament
I was appalled to hear and read that words such as ‘black buffoon’, ‘house n*****s’ and ‘crap’ were recently used in Bermuda’s Parliamentary Chambers.
In the 14 years that I was the Clerk to the Legislature of Bermuda I never heard such flagrantly racist and insulting language used during meetings of our island’s parliament.
I doubt that such words have been used in our parliament’s 35 year history.
The dignity of our parliament must be preserved and visitors to Bermuda and the local radio audiences must not be subjected to tirades from its members.
What a shocking example this behaviour is to the youth of Bermuda.
Let us hope that there is no recurrence of this disgraceful behaviour.
