FRIDAY, JUNE 1: A choral group that sang the US National Anthem for The Phillies are to perform in Bermuda this month.
The Haverford School Notables, a group of a cappella singers, who will go on to sing with the Princeton Tigertons and Harvard Krokodiloes, had been scheduled to perform in Cuba but it was deemed too dangerous in light of recent unrest in the country.
They will be performing at the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club, the Fairmont Hamilton Princess, Coral Beach, Tucker’s Point Hotel and Cathedral Most Holy Trinity between June 13 to 18. There are further tentative dates lined up during their stay.
The Haverford School is a private boys school in Haverford, Philadelphia, and The Notables is a carefully auditioned group of seventeen young men from 9th-12th grade selected from the fifty voice, Glee Club.
The young singers are top academic students and the stars of many dramatic productions. They are also champion swimmers, wrestlers, track stars, football, lacrosse, rugby and crew devotees, gifted violinists and pianists.
The Notables give dozens of concerts in churches, synagogues, clubs and retirement communities as well as several combined concerts at Haverford’s sister schools, Baldwin and Agnes Irwin, and the Brearley School of New York.
They recently completed a tour of Denmark and Sweden in June while previous tours include France, Italy, Germany, Spain and other parts of Europe.
They have sung the National Anthem for The Philadelphia Phillies as well as sung at The Kimmel Centre in Philadelphia. Last month, they spent two Sunday mornings in residence at the Princeton University Chapel.
