11 elected to Educators Council
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 23: The Bermuda Educators Council held their election yesterday with 11 new members on the council.
The newly elected members include O’Brien Osborne, Dr. Lois Tucker, Tina James-Outerbridge, Frigga Simmons, Michelle Squire, Tajuana Dean, Diana Dill, Henry James, Carlton Johnson, Carolyn Davis and Phyllis Harshaw.
Warren Jones, Maureen Edness Eddy, Vivlyn Cooper, Martha Harris Myron and Zina Tucker were previously appointed to the Council by Dame Jennifer Smith, Education Minister.
Sheila Hendrickson, director of the council, said: “I’m very much looking forward to working with the new team who will need to hit the ground running.
“There is much work to be done as we work to ensure that our educators and para-professionals have access to appropriate professional development opportunities which should result in Bermuda’s young people experiencing the highest quality of education.”
“I would like to congratulate the new council members and thank them, and all of the nominees, for being willing to give of their time to ensure the full development of our educators, para-professionals and ultimately, our young people.
“I would also like to thank all of those who provided ground support as returning officers, presiding officers and general volunteers.”
