The BFA National Academy team camps are under way as players reap the benefits of coaches from Valencia FC.
The school break camp, which runs until February 15, is a partnership between the BFA, ABC Football and Next Generation Valencia CF and the theme of this camp is ‘My Position, My Game’.
It is designed to deliver training that is specific to the lines in the team — goalkeeper, defence, midfield, attack — and how these lines integrate to develop a team’s style of play.
Four Spanish coaches are on the island to work with BFA during the week.
The Valencia Foundation, owners of Valencia Football Club, established Valencia Next Generation CF (NGVCF) to help deliver their football philosophy outside of Spain.
The BFA has joined forces with them to help develop and implement a curriculum of player development specific for the Bermuda National Academy.
The content and syllabus for the camps have been designed with close collaboration between the BFA National Academy Director, in consultation with the senior national coach Andrew Bascome, and NGVCF coaches.
Due to limitations of field space and coaching personnel, this camp is targeted toward the 2000, 1999 and 1998 player pools.
There will also be a few sessions for the 2001 pool and a women’s select in the evenings.
The 1995, 1996, and 1997 player pools will be engaged in separate programming with the Bermuda Brazilian Football School College Festival, also taking place this week.
