PHC edge nine-goal thriller to stay top
PHC managed to hold on to first place in the Women’s Futsal League with a narrow 5-4 victory over Somerset Trojans Saturday night at Dellwood Middle School.
Fans were treated to a great see-saw battle as PHC had a 3-2 lead at half-time. Somerset scored two quick goals in the final minutes to put PHC under tremendous pressure.
But PHC responded with a champions’ heart by scoring two goals to pull off the thrilling win.
Aaliyah Nolan had two goals for PHC, which gives her eight on the season.
Somerset’s Eva Frazzoni added a brace to give her a league-leading 14 goals.
Darzha Greaves and Kayla Corday also scored for Somerset while Micah Pond, Taznae Fubler and Raeesha Shakir each had single tallies for PHC.
Pond’s goal helped her reach double figures and she has now netted 10 times.
Dandy Stars Gold kept pace with PHC with an 11-2 triumph over Social Club Bluebirds. Stars are undefeated in three games and have a game in hand over leaders PHC.
Cleshaunay Darrell Virgil banged home five goals for Dandy Stars while team-mate Precious Cooper had a hat-trick. Atiyah Symonds, Rayni Maybury and Alana Burchall all scored for the winners.
Rachel Smith and Debora Menezes each had goals for Social Club.
The next games are Saturday at 5pm at Dellwood Middle School gym.
