Mexican siesta

Rosa’s is closed on Mondays during the winter season.

Pam Quarterly, owner, said: “Business isn’t great during the winter time. We find we let a lot of our staff go on holiday… because it’s the slowest time of the year.”

Ms Quarterly said the restaurant is using the down time for painting and maintenance.

“We’re keeping as few staff as possible to allow people to go away before — hopefully — a better season ahead.”

She believes the slide in the economy has been stemmed but it may not be until the end of 2013 before there starts an upswing.
