Festive fancy dress was the order of the day at the 9th Annual Santa ‘Classic’ Invitational at Riddell’s Bay Golf Club.
And the tournament was full of good tidings, raising $500 for the Meals on Wheels charity
Sunday’s event was played in Captain’s Choice Format, with a shotgun start and the winning team of Michael Kane, Will Haddrell, Keith Griffin and Darren Cann came home at seven under par.
The closest to the pin winners were Joel Willens (men) and Lindsay Watson (women), while the longest drive honours went to Kevin Taylor with a mighty blow of 332 yards.
Organiser and player Kane told the Bermuda Sun: “We had perfect conditions. Festive dress is a tradition of the tournament and is very much encouraged — and players did not disappoint.”
Kane himself was able to revel in an eagle on the par 5 seventh, although team-mate Will Haddrell did his best to upstage him with a 50-plus foot putt for birdie on the 8th.
Kane added: “The sticks cooled somewhat on the back and we were only able to manage one birdie.
“However, this was just enough in the end to win by one.”
