Eager shoppers hovered over their newly claimed prizes as Gorham’s director Rod Farrington shouted: “Let’s make a deal!”
Their eyes flitted between their Christmas-paper wrapped treasures and Mr Farrington.
He tempted each shopper with a Gorham’s gift card, some as much as $200 as the participants clutched their presents.
Most of the shoppers of Gorham’s ‘Grand Slam Bonanza Give-away’, chose to rip open their brightly coloured, metallic boxes to see what was inside.
In November of this year, Gorham’s hooked up with radio station HOTT 107.5 to put together this unique holiday-shopping experience; turning the normally stressful Christmas season into a family-fun game.
The Grand Slam Bonanza had a series of shopping races that attracted the hardcore shoppers, as well as those lured in by the Gorham’s raffle.
“Customers were required to wear an elf hat in order to participate in the race,” Mr Farrington explained to the Bermuda Sun: “We then gave them 107 seconds to find their prize, playing on the name HOTT 107.5, and in that time they had to race to find their prizes.”
“It is our first time doing this and I think they’ve had a lot more fun than I thought they would.”
There are three shopping race days, with the final one scheduled for Saturday, December 20, at Gorham’s on St John’s Road. The “grand slam prize” for this promotion is $1,750, which will take place on Saturday night’s raffle. The prize value for the entire promotion will equal $10,750.
