A New Year’s Eve party with a live band, dinner and an after party promises to be the place to be for young professionals.
The Back to the Future Dinner Party will be held on New Year’s Eve at the Coco Reef Resort with comedian Jah Simmons as the host.
Jason Sukdeo, also known as DJ D’General is organizing the event with IOP and explained why Back to the Future will be the place to be.
“We’re labelling it the most complete party. It’s for the folks who don’t want to stay home and have a house party but they also don’t want the club scene.
“It’s for a mature audience but it’s not really the party scene. You will want to dress up.”
“Our demographic is people that will want a nice dinner but they also want to do some dancing. They want to party a little but so you’re getting all of that without having to go to a club.
“It was requested previously and people have said you never get to dress up unless you’re going to a job function.”
While patrons will be allowed to buy whole tables, Sukdeo stressed this is not a couples’ event and singles are more than welcome to join the dinner and dancing.
“People get a little intimidated when they see a dress up event. It’s banquet style seating.
“You can come as a couple but you can also come with your friends, that’s why we encourage tables of six or ten.
“There will be a complimentary bottle of champagne on the tables. It’s well priced.
“It’s not a cheap event but it’s quite affordable so there’s a lot of value in it.”
In addition to the free champagne, there will be a complimentary cocktail for each guest.
The entertainment for the evening is Pink Sand Entertainment, a live band made up of well-known local performers. DJs include Jugglin J, D’General and New Era.
The menu for the dinner portion of the evening is three courses and dietary restrictions will be accommodated.
Speaking on the location, Sukdeo said: “Coco Reef is the ideal location for a number of reasons. It has all the facilities and it has an amazing foyer.
“The food is very good and it has all the right amenities for this event. We would also like to showcase to the Bermuda public particularly in the off season what this resort has to offer.”
Once the dinner has finished, patrons will be ushered into the party area where there will be a cash bar.
Encouraging patrons to attend the event, Sukdeo said: “It’s classy. There’s a void out there that we’re filling.
“People have been asking for something like this for some time and it hasn’t been provided.
“We’re expecting the event to be sold out because the response has been great.
“Tables are selling fast.”
The event is ticket-only. Tickets are $125 for the dinner/party and $75 for just the party. They are available at Secrets and Kit & Caboodle.
To book a table, visit Secrets or email [email protected]. The dinner portion of the evening starts at 7:30pm. Sponsors for the event include Heineken, Smirnoff and Johnny Walker.
