It was take two for Northern Ireland and Bermuda as they met for the second time this tournament, having played each other already in the group stages.
And history was to repeat itself as Northern Ireland yet again got the better of Bermuda, this time winning by 53-22.
Northern Ireland led from the beginning after a comfortable first quarter saw them 14-6 ahead. But both teams had wobbles in the shooting circle.
Northern Ireland marginally improved their shooting in the second half whereas Gina Benjamin’s shooting team couldn’t sink the shots.
Now Northern Ireland face Papua New Guinea.
Bermuda made a valiant attempt to catch the northern Irish but it was to no avail. Northern Ireland scored 10 on the trot in the final quarter which confirmed Bermuda’s fate.
Their coach Gina Benjamin was disappointed.
“They were tired. They made some bad mistakes out there, it was a winnable game.”
But she’s hopeful for their next fixture against Singapore today.
“We’re going to get ready for it. We’re going to make sure the girls have positive spirits and go out there and fight like its our very first game.”
On Wednesday, Samoa pulled off a 60-40 victory against Bermuda in a physical game.
