Treadwell Gibbons has received a two-year suspended ban from playing for St George’s CC and was also fined 50 per cent of his match fee for his Cup Match indiscipline.

The all-rounder reacted angrily to being given out during the drawn match against Somerset earlier this month, confronting umpires and opposition players. He was also involved in an altercation with a spectator on his way back to the pavilion.

The 28-year-old’s behaviour has been widely condemned and there have been calls for a lengthy ban from Cup Match cricket.

St George’s have decided on a more lenient punishment of a two year ban suspended for two years but warned that if there are “any infractions within the two-year period the ban will be activated”.

Neil Paynter, president of St George’s CC, said in a press release: "In light of all the evidence presented from various parties the committee came to a unanimous
conclusion. St. George's Cricket Club is willing to work with Mr. Treadwell Gibbons Jr. to help him achieve his goals.

"He immediately apologized to the club and he has been extremely apologetic to all of Bermuda. He has demonstrated genuine remorse and we are satisfied that this situation has been resolved appropriately."
