Film screening to celebrate anniversary of ‘I Have a Dream’ speech
U.S. Consul General Bob Settje thanks Head Librarian Joanne Brangman for working with the Consulate to provide a venue for this gathering. He noted, “The August 28, 1963, march and speech mark one of the largest political rallies for human rights in U.S. history and are a defining moment in the American Civil Rights Movement. The speech has inspired generations of U.S. and global audiences.”
Because of limited space, only 50 guests can be accommodated on a first-come, first-serve basis. Consul General Settje will greet the guests prior to the screening and be available for discussion at the conclusion of the video. Light refreshments will be served.
“The March” was produced by award-winning filmmaker James Blue. The film's primary focus is the people who came to Washington to demonstrate their desire for freedom and equality. The film features speeches by civil rights leaders, including Martin Luther King Jr. delivering his "I Have a Dream" speech.
