Two Pembroke men appeared in court to face assault charges.

Bruce Simons, 25, pleaded not guilty to unlawfully assaulting Masala Pace on August 8 in Pembroke and thereby causing her bodily harm.

Meanwhile, Mikre Pace, 29, the brother of the victim, also appeared in court charged with assaulting Meesha Pace and thereby causing her bodily harm on the same date.

Meesha Pace is his sister as well.

Mr Pace was also charged with behaving in a threatening manner towards Meesha Place by having a hammer and scissors and allegedly said: “I don’t care if you’re pregnant. I’m going to f**k you up. I’m going to stab you right now”.

Finally, Mr Pace is accused of behaving in a threatening manner towards Mr Simons by having a hammer and scissors and allegedly saying: “I will stab you right now. My tool is on the way. My gun is coming soon. Tell the man that when they come”.

He denied all the charges.

The charges allegedly stem from a fight which took place in a premises where both defendants and the complainants reside.

Mr Simons is the boyfriend of Meesha Place.

Mr Simons will face trial on November 13 at 9:30am and Mr Pace will stand trial that afternoon.

Both defendants were released on $2,000 bail each with one surety each.
