Bermuda secured their place in the finals of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Women's U-17 Tournament, despite a 2-1 Group One defeat to hosts Puerto Rico at the Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium.

Puerto Rico defeated the Bahamas 3-1 and Bermuda 2-l, to top the table with six points, while Bermuda earned three points by defeating the Bahamas 4-2, to take second position in the point standings.

Yesterday, against Puerto Rico, Bermuda took the lead after 12 minutes through top striker Aaliyah Nolan.

But despite having Mariana Lopez Crespo sent off in the 66th minute for violent conduct, the home side clawed themselves back into the game and equalized in the 84th minute thanks to substitute Fabiola Miranda.

Marjorie Martinez then dramatically sealed victory for Puerto Rico in the last minute.

Both teams will await the qualifying matches from Groups Two and Three, which are scheduled to begin on August 14 and 21, in the US Virgin Islands (USVI) and the Dominican Republic respectively.
