A Pembroke teenager was today remanded into custody for allegedly having sex with a 13-year-old girl.
The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with having unlawful carnal knowledge with the girl in Pembroke three times between May 31 and June 10.
Crown counsel Garrett Byrne told the court the pair met on Instagram and agreed to meet in person.
The defendant and the victim allegedly had sex three times at his home.
Mr Byrne said the victim even skipped school to meet with the defendant.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner remanded the boy to the Co-Educational Facility until August 22 despite a bail request by his lawyer, Elizabeth Christopher.
Mr Warner told her to go to the Supreme Court for a bail application if she liked.
