The public will have the chance to meet Philippe Cousteau — grandson of the famous Jacques Cousteau, pioneer of the aqualung.
Cousteau is visiting the island this week to talk about the Blue Halo project that could see the creation of a marine protected area around Bermuda.
Firstly, the Chewstick Foundation will be hosting a Meet and Greet session with the explorer, social entrepreneur, environmental advocate and CNN correspondent at a special evening in the Chewstick Lounge this Wednesday from 6pm to 9pm. There will also be live music.
There will be another opportunity to meet Cousteau at the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo from 2pm to 4pm this Thursday. The “kid-friendly” event will give children the opportunity to have their picture taken with him.
Finally there will be a public talk at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute on Thursday also from 6:30pm. Philippe Cousteau will talk about his global travels, the importance of marine conservation and what the Blue Halo could mean for Bermuda. There will be time for Q&A following the talk.
Admission to these events is free.
