A Jamaican man appeared in Magistrates’ Court this morning to face drugs importation charges.

Maurice Parkes, 39, pleaded not guilty to conspiring with others not before the courts to import into the island cannabis between a date unknown and December 11,2012.

The amount of drugs in question was not read out in court.

Mr Parkes will stand trial on July 30.

He was given $5,000 bail with one surety and must report to the Hamilton Police Station Monday and Thursday between 6am and 8pm.

The defendant must also surrender his travel documents and not leave the jurisdiction without permission from the court.
