The Bermuda Lacrosse Association has been granted acceptance to participate in the 2008 ILF Under 19 World Lacrosse Championships to be held in British Columbia, Canada in July. Lacrosse spokesman Mike Totman said that this marks another step in the development of lacrosse in Bermuda and helps jumpstart our youth development initiative. Any students wishing to learn the game of lacrosse as well as any experienced lacrosse players are urged to contact them at [email protected] for more information on how you can be a part of this historic team. Parents and students are welcome to visit training sessions Thursday nights at 6pm and Sunday mornings at 9:30am at Gym field in Devonshire.

The lacrosse association will supply equipment for anyone who wishes to learn the game. Totman said: "Lacrosse is an action packed field sport and your participation with the Bermuda Lacrosse Association opens up numerous opportunities to travel the globe and meet new people through sport. There are a number of scholarship opportunities available from U.S. and Canadian universities and the BLA can assist you with your athletic and academic goals. "

Junior netball

The Bermuda Netball Association Junior League will now start on Saturday, September 22 and not September 15, as previously stated.

$100 Team Registration is due on Friday, September 14 while $5 player registration is due on Friday September 21.

Netball vice-president Stacy Grant said that the later start date will hopefully allow more schools to participate.

"Apologies for any inconvenience caused and we look forward to your continued support of Junior Netball," Grant said.

She added: "Our aim is to send a team to the Under 16 netball tournament in Antigua in March 2008 (hopefully the tournament is held during a school break). We will pick our Under 16 team from our pool of players registered in the BNA Junior League.

Grant can be contacted at 799-0468 if you need more info about the junior netball league.
